Praised for her radiant tone, expressive artistry, and seamless crossover versatility, soprano Lydia Gray is a multi-hyphenate artist based in Tulsa, Okla. showing herself to be a compelling presence in opera, musical theatre, and film productions. Equally at home on the theatrical stage or in front of the camera, Ms. Gray is known for her musical intelligence, emotional sincerity, and collaborative spirit.

A Filstrup Resident Artist at Tulsa Opera, Ms. Gray recently covered Micaëla in La tragédie de Carmen and will perform the works of Manuel de Falla in the company’s Voices After Dark recital series this season. In 2025, she made her debut with Tulsa Shakespeare Company as Olivia in Twelfth Night and returned to Theatre Tulsa as Irene Molloy in Hello, Dolly! Recent highlights include a fellowship at Opernfest Prague, where she studied with leading European artists, and her selection for Opera America’s Career Blueprints program in New York City.

Ms. Gray made her mainstage operatic debut with Heartland Opera Theatre as Laetitia in The Old Maid and the Thief, a performance she prepared in just two weeks to critical acclaim. Additional operatic credits include Musetta in La bohème and Josephine in H.M.S. Pinafore (Red River Lyric Opera), Beatriz in Catán’s La hija de Rappacini, Lightfoot McClendon in Floyd’s Cold Sassy Tree, Drusilla in L’incoronazione di Poppea, and Juliette in community outreach performances of Roméo et Juliette.

A dynamic musical theatre performer, Gray’s roles include Jenny Lind in Barnum, Guenevere in Camelot, Rapunzel in Into the Woods, Claire de Loone in On the Town, Laurey in Oklahoma! and Maria in The Sound of Music. She also earned recognition for her work as a swing artist in Beauty and the Beast, stepping confidently into seven performances of several different roles with short notice including Madame de la Grande Bouche and two of the three Silly Girls.

On screen, Ms. Gray has appeared as Mistress Page in a film adaptation of The Merry Wives of Windsor, Ms. Linda in Be Good, Julie in Heaven’s Date, and Susan in The Lesson. She is represented by Reel Talent Studio for film, television, and commercial work and is currently an Equity Membership Candidate with the Actors’ Equity Association.

The recipient of multiple awards, Ms. Gray earned first place in the Hyechka Club of Tulsa Collegiate Awards, second place in the Southeastern NATS Graduate Women’s Division, and two Miss Oklahoma Pageant Talent Awards for piano and voice. She holds a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Florida State University and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Oklahoma.
